ENV: Someone new at the window . . .

Gulf Coast Toads, Bufo valliceps (see here), and Cliff Chirping Frogs, Syrrhopus marnocki, regularly show up on the walkway outside the office window here. Occasionally a Blanchard's Cricket Frog, Acris crepitans blanchardi, wanders up from the river as well. And though i guess it's not totally unexpected, i was mighty surprised to see this Rio Grande Leopard Frog, Rana berlandieri, hop into view early this morning.

And, while we're on herps, staff brought me a lizard today that the nurses caught in the clinic -- virtually any lizard found there, adjacent to a limestone slope, was bound to be a Texas Alligator Lizard, Gerrhonotus infernalis, and sure enough that's what it was. I'll try to get some pictures tomorrow and post them.
