ENV: Not-Really-A-Cat-Friday

Be sure to check out The Friday Ark at The Modulator.

Mike Quinn, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Invertebrate Biologist was kind enough to identify a dung beetle i picked up at my buffalo pens. He also has placed an informational webpage up on his site about this critter here. It is one of three horned scarab beetles i've found here, pictures of the other two are added below. Thanks Mike!

Black Texas Phanaeus, Phanaeus triangularis texensis

Ox Beetle, Strategus antaeus

Eastern Hercules Beetle, Dynastes tityus
Mike Quinn's Dynastes webpage

Mike has also set up some great new webpages of other beetles i've provided him photographs of, including: Lampetis drummondi and Oncideres rhodosticta. Be sure to check out his Texas Entomology pages here also.
