COM: Blogarithmic #120

Went to the Texas Writers Conference on Wednesday. Guest performer was Dr. Andy Wilkinson of Texas Tech. He’s a well-known songwriter, and did some fine pieces of exactly the style of storytelling i like. He played a song he wrote about St. Therese, specifically at a student’s request. I promise, when he gets that one recorded, it’s one i’ll be adding to my repertoire. Very nice.

If you want to check out more, Wilkinson’s website is here.

Kathleen Hudson also introduced Casey Hubble, from Ingram Tom Moore High School, who is the winner of the Wayne Kennemer Scholarship from the Texas Heritage Music Foundation. He’ll be going to Tech to study music, so everything was kind of serendipitous. Casey did a really fine song he’d written. He was in the class at ITM that i spoke to on Friday, and had i known what he could do i’d have had him up there performing.

Spent some time last week with Sandy and John Wolfmueller – ordering scripts – and find out they have a new website. They have an outrageoulsy good selection of old and rare books – especially Texana. And if they haven’t got what you want, they can find it. Links, , , , , , , , , , , , , ,
