OBT: Darryl Masters Memorial

I posted the obituary a few days ago of Darryl Masters, without comment. I've struggled to get a handle on this unexpected death. Darryl was one of the first people i met when i moved to Kerrville -- he was board member of AYSO here and i, of course, became quickly immersed in that program. He and his wonderful wife Alta's two boys, Chase and Brian, eventually played for me at the high school. They're both outstanding young men, period. Fine athletes too, but wonderful kids first. I am heartbroken by Darryl's passing. I hadn't seen him and Alta in a couple of years -- i last ran into them one late night at Wal-Mart and we talked at some length. Apparently they moved to Round Rock -- i suspect to be closer to son Chase and his family. I missed the funeral this past weekend because of bookings i had. It looks like there will be a memorial service this weekend in Harper, and of course i can't make that either for bookings i can't get out of at this point. I'm posting the details below for those of you who might want to attend. And i hope that somehow Alta and Chase and Brian find this and know how much i feel for them right now. You all were a huge part of my soccer life in Kerrville.

Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, at the Wild Ride Ministries Cowboy Church in Harper, Texas. The church is three miles east of Harper on U.S. 290.

Darryl is survived by his wife, Alta Masters of Round Rock; his mother, Laura Walker of Harper; his children, Chace Masters and wife, Erica, of Cedar Creek, Brian Masters and wife, Gina, of Austin, Becky Collins and husband, Chad, of Crowley; grandchildren, Kade, Kole and Kamry Masters and Annabeth, Maddy and Macey Collins; brothers Scott Senior of Harper and Verlon Masters and wife, Mary, of Pipe Creek.
